• In May 2010, Hulihan was appointed Professor to the Chinese State Food and Drug Administration Training Center (renamed in May 2011 to the Institute of Executive Development), in Beijing, China. Hulihan is the First Westerner appointed to a Professorship at the SFDA Training Center.
• In December 2009, Hulihan was Appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Health Informatics in the School of Health Related Professions at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ-SHRP). While on faculty at UMDNJ-SHRP, Hulihan’s mission is to educate students who will function competently, creatively, responsibly and collaboratively in today’s dynamic health care environment.
• In January 2008, Hulihan was appointed Visiting Professor with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SUTCM), Hulihan was the First Westerner ever appointed to a Professorship at the prestigious SUTCM. This was in recognition of his work in China with the State Food and Drug Administration and Chinese Clinical Investigators on “promoting the quality of Chinese Medicine and Clinical Trials.
• In June 2007, Hulihan received the Drug Information Association's Founders Service Award. This is the highest award given by the DIA and “is in recognition of your many significant contributions to the DIA, medicine, regulatory science, and people throughout the world during your distinguished career.”
• In July 2000, Hulihan was a recipient of the Drug Information Association's Outstanding Service Award.

• During the early 1970s, Hulihan collaborated with the internationally known physician and one of the fathers of sports medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation, Dr. Hans Kraus in the development of a new clinical program for the "Prevention and Treatment of Back Ache, Stress and Tension." The partnership resulted in a new treatment paradigm and nationally syndicated prevention and treatment program, which during its first ten years alone, achieved rave reviews for success with over 300,000 sufferers.
• During the early 1970s, Hulihan collaborated with John R. Spannuth, Executive Director of the Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation and Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the foundation's creator, in developing the infrastructure and building for the growth of Special Olympics into an internationally recognized program for persons with intellectual disabilities. In appreciation, the Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation in 1975 acknowledged Hulihan’s efforts.
